THE BIBLE – do you still vote for BN?

Written by: Dr. John Brian Anthony

I was interviewed on this topic because the media wanted to know whether the christian of Sarawak would react to the government action of detaining the Bible. This is a big topic for me as I do not like to bring religion and politics together. But nevertheless, the issue must be resolved.

Allah

Did the government allow for the word “allah” to be used in Sarawak? Yes. Why? Many natives language has only the word “allah” to djust by describe god. If the word “allah” can be used why detained the Bible. Statistically, how many Muslim has been converted to Christianity because they used the word allah and because the Bible contain the word allah? How do you associate the word “allah” with the expansion of Christianity into Islam or Islam into Christianity?

Mosque and Islamic brotherhood

Did the Christian stop he government from building any mosque or criticize the government for building human resources for the spreading of Islam in Malaysia? No, I never heard of any. If Islam is not growing fast enough, it is not because of the expansion of Christianity. Are Christian to be blamed?

What does our constitution say?

That Islam is the Official Religion of Malaysia but people of other faith are free to practice their religion. We the “other faith” ever interfere with Islamic expansion? Non that I know of. Malaysian accepted Islam as the Official Religion.

Are we an Islamic nation? No – we are secular. That is what the constitution say. What is secular? We are allow to practice other religion peacefully.

The issue

As Christian we asked ourselves this question? Has the Government interfere with our freedom to practice our religion? The answer is YES. Now the Government has allowed the release of the Bible – do we still vote for BN Government. In the first place it is our right as citizen of Malaysia to practice our own religion. The release of the Bibles do not change our rights. In fact we should not vote BN to tell them our message – respect the Constitution on religious matters. Don’t change the rule to suit politics.

Conclusion

Are we ready to take action against the government this coming election? We must ALL go and cast our vote and choose the party that allow freedom of practice of religion. We vote BN out first.

Aram Berubah and Change WE Must.
